The Seher Haveli Lamp is a handcrafted miniature that explores the architectural character of North Indian urban settlements — particularly the shared language of Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab.
Rather than replicating a specific haveli, this piece is an interpretation — capturing the essence of tightly packed facades, projected chajjas, railings, and layered vertical compositions found in old शहर. At its centre lies a detailed haveli-like facade, where balconies (chajjas), openings, and structural layers create rhythm and depth — much like the streets where buildings grow organically over time.
When illuminated, the piece transforms — light spills through layers and edges, evoking the quiet warmth of evening in an old mohalla.

MATERIAL & CONSTRUCTION
i) The piece is designed as a multi-layered architectural composition.
ii) It begins with a solid wooden base (optional), grounding the structure.
iii) The central element is a handcrafted haveli-inspired facade — built with multiple layers to create depth, projections, and shadows.
iv) Above it rests a cotton fabric shade, finished with subtle hand-printed patterns that softly diffuse the light, complementing the structure below.
EXPERIENCE
i) This piece is designed not just to illuminate a space, but to evoke a feeling.
ii) It carries the presence of old city streets — where evenings settle slowly, and light from within homes softly meets the outside world.
iii) Placed in a living room, studio, or personal corner, it adds warmth, depth, and a subtle sense of lived-in architecture.
ARTIST NOTE: At Esmaric, each piece begins with observation — not just of monuments, but of everyday architecture that shapes our lived experience.
The Seher Haveli Lamp is part of an exploration into India’s urban fabric — where havelis, mohallas, and evolving facades tell stories of time, climate, and culture. Through miniature form, I attempt to preserve this architectural essence — not as replication, but as interpretation.
